In the Redeemed Christian Church of God, August was a wonderful beginning of a new year setting a good spiritual atmosphere for miracles, breakthroughs and a new wave of glory. We shall all be partakers of the new things He is doing in Jesus name. The Lord is calling on us to walk with Him passionately so He can bless us the more and accomplish His divine purposes in our lives. It is my prayer that the Lord will settle you early this month as you walk with Him in Jesus name.

God always want to establish a relationship with man, he is looking for someone that is trustworthy, teachable and available to accomplish his divine purpose. Right from Genesis, He established a relationship with Adam and Eve, Genesis 1:27, Enoch, Genesis 5:24, Noah, Genesis 6:9 then Abraham, Genesis 12:1-3 and this continue even till now. My desire and prayer are that you also will be a living testimony in Jesus name.
“And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly” Genesis 17:1-2
In the above scriptures, God must have evaluated Abraham’s relationship with Him and concluded that he wasn’t really ‘walking with God’. And this has withheld blessings and promises earlier made to Abraham from coming to past in his life. God had to ‘talk straight’ to Abraham to watch his ways and make sure he is doing it right in order to give God opportunity to bless him and fulfil all His promises, just the same way He is talking straight to us right now.
To walk with God is keeping him in the center of every area of our life and allowing him to direct our steps. Proverbs 3:5-6 says "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your path. This scripture is telling us that unless God is part of everything we do we will end up going in the wrong direction which may lead to frustration, disappointment, failure, fruitlessness and even death. Walking with God means aligning ourselves with his will.
The bible revealed an important truth about what it means to walk with God. Amos 3:3 says “Can two walk together, unless they be agreed?” Dear friend, examine yourself carefully; are you really born again? Are you in agreement with God in the type of lifestyle you live? Are you following his instructions and directions contained in His words in the Bible? Are you keeping away from sin? Psalm 1:1-3. Are you living by faith? Hebrew 11:6. Can God rely on you as he said concerning Abraham “...For I know him...” in Genesis 18:17 – 19.
Walking with God begins with your Salvation, in other word you must be born again, John 3:5-7, sanctified and grow to maturity to enable God to unfold His divine plans for your life. We must learn to listen to God through studying and meditating on the word of God regularly. We must constantly fellowship and communicate with God by developing a fervent prayer life and by
engaging actively in the service of God in a local church or Christian organization. These activities draw us closer to God and help us develop sound knowledge of a walking relationship with Him.
When we are walking with God, we are elevated to the realm where God unfolds the secrets of his kingdom and brings God to be committed to our welfare and prosperity. Luke 8:10 ‘And He said, “To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is given in parables, that ‘Seeing they may not see, And hearing they may not understand’. What a privilege! Also, it makes us reach our potentials in life thereby maximizing and fulfilling destiny. Ephesians 2:10 says we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. We learn and do things that pleases God through walking with Him daily. It is important to please God because Proverbs 16:7 tells us that ‘When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him’. What a sure way to have victory over all adversaries!!
God wants to walk with us before he works through us. I want you from your heart to genuinely determine that you will henceforth walk with God. To do so successfully, you must firstly be born again by giving your life to Christ. And then continue to live a holy and sanctified live because He is holy. You must please Him in all your ways by having faith in God. Hebrew 11:6 says without faith it is impossible to please God. Pray to Him for the grace to be His friend, His confidant, to walk with Him, talk with Him, listen to Him, and hear Him and to be committed to His service.
I pray that the Lord will teach us to walk with Him now and forever in Jesus name.
Have a wonderful month.
