It is with great joy in my heart that I welcome you to the new year 2022. All glory and honor be unto the God of heaven who granted us victory over all challenges of 2021 and brought us to the new year. Let the Lord be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
This world is a battle field, and every day we live offers its own challenges. But without divine help you will suffer defeat, humiliation and shame. Without divine help people will forget you and men will abandon you. Consider the story of Joseph in Genesis 40:9-14, Joseph expected help from a man, the Chief Butler in Pharaoh’ palace, but that man forgot him completely, until after two years, Genesis 40:23. What made the Chief Butler to remember him later on was the help and the intervention of God, Genesis 41:9 - 14. May the almighty God cause your destiny helper to remember you and help you this year in Jesus name. I pray that the Lord will arise for your help and settle you early in Jesus name.

God wants us to be totally dependent on him and that was why our Lord Jesus Christ told us in John 15:5 that we can do nothing without him. Today’s world has however become too self-sufficient and highly knowledgeable that we believe we can do all things by ourselves. We rely on our intellect, ability, and resources but forget the most important helper, God. We only turn to God when all other efforts failed.
Beloved, God should not be our last resort after things do not go according to plan. We should learn to rely on him for our daily subsistence, allow him to lead us and ask him for wisdom, inspiration and strength for victorious living and successes in many areas of our lives.
King David said ‘I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth’. Psalm 121:1-2
He understood that only God could help him. He knew that the key to every man’s heart is in God’s hands and can direct it however he wishes, Proverbs 21:1. Therefore, instead of seeking help from men, seek God’s help and He will direct or compel and empower men to work in your favor.
You may be asking what does help from above means? It simply refers to getting support, empowerment, or assistance through divine arrangement. It is evident by all indications that the entire nations of the world need divine help at this time and much more the church of God.
The Psalmist new his helper and sought him earnestly. His helper never disappointed him for a moment rather he blessed him with a blessing that lasted from generation to generation.
Where are you seeking for help or who are you looking up to for help? That man or that woman may not be able to help as you think except the Lord himself empower him and put it in his heart.
God said in Jeremiah 17:5 ‘Cursed be the man that trust in man and make flesh his arm’. Man’s help is limited by his possessions; he cannot give what he does not have. Some Christians go to the wrong places seeking for help, thereby falling into wrong hands and worse problems, while some expect everybody to help them. Job 5:8 says “I would seek unto God and unto God would I commit my cause” Isaiah 31:1 says ‘Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but who do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the Lord’.
Are you faced with problems of life causing sleepless nights? Is it your marriage that is not working as you expect or giving you terrible moments? Is it sickness that is ravaging your life and giving you fear that you might die? Are you having financial crises that is almost tearing your life apart? Or are you battling with household enemies? Take a clue from the Psalmist and look up to God. He would send you help from above. In Isaiah 41:10-14, the Lord asked us not to fear and gave us assurance of His help.
If indeed you need divine help, then you must seek God with the whole of your heart. King Solomon needed divine help as a king, he sought God through sacrificial offering and he was marvellously helped. Jabez needed a change of his situation and he desperately sought God through prayers and he received help. 1Chronicles 4:9-10. You will be the next to testimony of divine assistance this year in Jesus name.
I encourage you to abide in God, let the word of God abide in you, obey God at all times, please him in all your ways, look up to him and trust him for help and He will surely show up for you. Remember, only God’s help is guaranteed to give you lasting victory, joy and peace. As you look up to him, He would send you help in that area of need in Jesus name.
Happy new Year.
